Comment and trackback policy
by Jack GrantComments are moderated at the sole discretion of the owner of this weblog.
Disagreement is not only acceptable, but encouraged. However, disrespectful or abusive remarks aimed towards the weblog authors or the other commenters are not tolerated, for the purpose of the comments is to encourage discussion, not adding to the pointless acrimonious name-calling or worse that already permeates blogworld and other venues of public discourse.
The bandwidth and hosting of Random Fate is not free; it is being paid for by the owner of this site. Therefore, it is not a “public forum” where abuse of the authors or other commenters is either acceptable or tolerated.
Comments with invalid email addresses will be deleted with no consideration regarding content.
Valid email addresses are required for two reasons:
(1) If you are not confident enough in your views to leave a valid email address, why are you commenting in the first place?
(2) I send all commenters emails of my responses to their comments before they are posted on my site, so they will have a chance to respond/reply.
There are many no-cost resources available on the web (for example, Blogger) that allow anyone to express their opinion, no matter how hateful or abusive. Since these other avenues exist, the comments on Random Fate are treated as letters to the editor of a newspaper, with the associated editorial discretion.
