General:

Quizzes

    By Jack Grant

Since Boudicca took it upon herself to insist I take a quiz on music influences, here it is:

Your Taste in Music:

Classic Rock: Highest Influence
Progressive Rock: Highest Influence
80's Pop: High Influence
90's Alternative: High Influence
90's Pop: High Influence
90's Rock: Medium Influence
80's Alternative: Low Influence
80's R&B: Low Influence
80's Rock: Low Influence
90's R&B: Low Influence

How's Your Taste in Music?

As you can see, I'm a bit of a fan of older music (progressive rock has it's roots in the late '60s and early '70s) along with what is called classic rock, which is really just music I grew up with.

Since I was there, I took some of the other quizzes that have been making the rounds. First, here's how I speak:

Your Linguistic Profile:

60% General American English
30% Dixie
5% Upper Midwestern
5% Yankee
0% Midwestern
What Kind of American English Do You Speak?

You can take the boy out of the South, but you can't take the South out of the boy (or at least out of his speech)?

American Cities That Best Fit You:

75% Denver
70% Portland
65% Seattle
60% Honolulu
60% Las Vegas
Which American Cities Best Fit You?

I've lived in Portland, visited Seattle often during that time, and I found both places quite nice. Denver came out on top because I insisted upon easy access to skiing, Honolulu because I wanted a beach.

Las Vegas? Damned if I know...

Easy access to strippers? ;-) (ref. Las Vegas) Just guessing...

How is it you frickin' lived in Austin and it doesn't end up on your list? I think Austin and I think dreadfully hot and I specifically said 4 seasons, and I get Austin. Somethings not right...

Trying to hold the center in not so quiet desperation while the left and the right do their damnest to tear everything apart.

What Others Say
An American transplanted to France for the moment, Jack is sometimes conservative, sometimes liberal, and almost always right.

Jack has an impressive knowledge of history, politics, and Keanu Reeves. When it comes to pirates, Jack is waaay sexier than that pansy Dread Pirate Roberts. Oh, wait--I'm thinking of Jack Sparrow...

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the center cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
