My point: Rumsfeld is directly responsible for too few troops on the ground to occupy Iraq. As a consequence, we are having to take and retake the same towns and areas over and over.
People are dying because of Rumsfeld's refusal to admit to himself that his "transformation" of the military applies to fighting organized armies, but NOT to occupying countries. It still takes boots on the ground, and technology does NOT replace that.
And Rumsfeld refuses to take responsiblity.
