Commentary:
The perils of using the wrong word
By Jack GrantMuch has been written and much derision has been made of John Kerry's use of the phrase "global test" in the first debate between the candidates for President of the United States. This shows the perils of using the wrong word to make your point. My interpretation of Kerry's meaning was of a "comprehensive test examining the issue from all sides," which is much wordier, but cannot be twisted to make it appear as if he wants to give the entire world a veto over the actions of the United States.
Sigh...
Appearances and spin are more important than substance, however, despite any wishes I have to the contrary.
