Opinion:

Yes, I am angry

    By Jack Grant

A satirical comment on the "revelations" of the Vietnam-era military service of both George W. Bush and John F. Kerry:

My sources are unreliable, but their information is fascinating.

To everyone: Stop arguing about a war we LOST THREE DECADES AGO and start figuring out how we are going to WIN the war we are in NOW. We are on the path to LOSE the war we are in NOW for the exact same reason that we LOST the Vietnam War, the God-damned Baby Boomers are too busy gazing at themselves to even notice the world at large. The "Greatest Generation" raised a bunch of self-indulgent narcissists who will be the destruction of the United States and the principles upon which it was founded.

My message to the Baby Boomers: GROW UP. You are adults now; you are the generation now responsible for running things. Stop your self-obsessive sniping and look at the world around you. Address the crisis that is underway NOW, don't continue the arguments you started 35 years ago because the world doesn't care and our enemies will take advantage of your inattention.

Jack:

I agree with you on this score, but the possibly forged memos have become a legitimate issue.

You might consider exempting those who served in Vietnam without benefit of their own film crew and early-out plan from such generalizations. Except for a few who, like Mr. Kerry, saw the war as their opportunity to pad their record, the majority of those who served paid every bit as steep a price as their parents generation and far more than their parents generation in terms of reintegration into society on their return.

Regards

Jack has an impressive knowledge of history, politics, and Keanu Reeves. When it comes to pirates, Jack is waaay sexier than that pansy Dread Pirate Roberts. Oh, wait--I'm thinking of Jack Sparrow...

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the center cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
