General:

Busy week

    By Jack Grant

I've had a very busy week at work, leaving at 7:30 in the mornings and not returning to my apartment until 11:30 or midnight. The days have been consumed with meetings hours long. It's been a very "Dilbert" experience, since the meetings have been with scientists and engineers (and engineers who THINK they are scientists, a situation that is too geeky to bear). Needless to say, this has seriously cut into both my time for writing and my personal life in taking care of common things like buying groceries. I'll be devoted to taking care of those things today since the stores here are not open that long. I hope to be back on a more regular schedule next week.

Trying to hold the center in not so quiet desperation while the left and the right do their damnest to tear everything apart.

What Others Say
An American transplanted to France for the moment, Jack is sometimes conservative, sometimes liberal, and almost always right.

Jack has an impressive knowledge of history, politics, and Keanu Reeves. When it comes to pirates, Jack is waaay sexier than that pansy Dread Pirate Roberts. Oh, wait--I'm thinking of Jack Sparrow...

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the center cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
   -William Butler Yeats, January 1919

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
