Weblogs:

I ain't stupid, but I don't get it

    By Jack Grant

Well, Jennifer is happy that Rachel Lucas is blogging again, and Teresa also had a recent post encouraging Ms. Lucas to blog again. However, I've gone backwards through several posts (around 15 now), and they are all about either dog photos (I think, the photos aren't showing up) or how much her blogging "sucks now". Not meaning to be snarky, but I go on data, not on what other folks say, so I'm sorry, but I don't see the attraction. There must have been something there at one time, but now it's buried deeper than I have time to look for, and I'll readily admit Ms. Lucas does have a remarkably high number on her visitor counter...

Perhaps someone (maybe Jennifer or Teresa, hint, hint...) can point those of us who have been blogging for a while (quite a while in "internet time", a year and a half in "real time") in our own obscure corner of the world to a post that would show us why so many are impressed.

She coined the term "asshat" which should be sufficient for you. ;-)

Otherwise, she has categories on the front page. Pick one and judge for yourself.

the "asshated celebrities" category is particularly good.

Oh yeah Jack! When she lets loose on the asshat celebs it is a thing of beauty. But yes, she did do dog pics about once a week, because she enjoys it. I like dogs too, so it never bothered me at all - LOL.

OTOH - you are of what I call an "engineering personality" (I recognize these things because I married a guy like that *G*). Hmmm - how do I describe this? More precise in your thinking. I'm always surprised that you come back and read my blog - because I can tend toward sloppy reasoning (especially when I am annoyed - LOL) - the type that many times makes my husband crazy.

Rachel is excellent at ranting and while I don't always agree with her conclusions, I love how she uses words. And most times I do agree with her so it's even better. But her writing may not appeal to you as much. I know my husband never really understood why I enjoyed Rachel's blog so much. I think it's a personality thing.

So, give her a chance to get going again, but if she doesn't appeal, you may simply want to stop by whenever she writes an especially good post and gets an instalaunch. Because as we all know, blog reading should be like blog writing - enjoyable. So go have fun!

Yeah, I wondered too. I figured I must have missed her during the height of her bloginess.

Rachel was the one who convinced a ton of people to start blogging. A whole bunch of the folks on your blog list owe her their souls.

What Others Say

Jack has an impressive knowledge of history, politics, and Keanu Reeves. When it comes to pirates, Jack is waaay sexier than that pansy Dread Pirate Roberts. Oh, wait--I'm thinking of Jack Sparrow...

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the center cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
