Opinion:

The path to Hell is indeed paved with good intentions, and moral relativism...

    By Jack Grant

I am almost as horrified by the comments I've seen regarding the Abu Ghraib prison photos as I am the photos themselves. Some of the comments include "Why is everyone taking the stand that these characters did not deserve the humiliation they received?" and "Saddam did far worse."

If you come to resemble what you claim to be fighting, in the end when you are the only one left standing are you truly victorious?

Calm, cool and collected comes easily to some of us. Rages are controlled, actions calculated.

I feel the same way that you do, but as laid back as I am, I appreciate controlled behavior in any situation. ...well, almost any situation... ; )

But everyone has breaking point. And I wouldn't mind hearing a narrative from one of the guard on the events leading up to the photo shoot.

Trying to hold the center in not so quiet desperation while the left and the right do their damnest to tear everything apart.

What Others Say
An American transplanted to France for the moment, Jack is sometimes conservative, sometimes liberal, and almost always right.

Jack has an impressive knowledge of history, politics, and Keanu Reeves. When it comes to pirates, Jack is waaay sexier than that pansy Dread Pirate Roberts. Oh, wait--I'm thinking of Jack Sparrow...

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the center cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
