I would not take an image from you without permission, and even then, I would not hotlink, but post the image on my share. And in EITHER case, I would link back to you! I don't do it because, as you said, I'd be burning your bandwidth and I'm not the one paying for it. One of the things I try to do is always give credit for a gif when possible.
