Four years is an eternity in blogworld

by Jack Grant

I guess this shows how out of touch I’ve been getting with blogworld. The four year anniversary of Random Fate and my blogging passed two days ago without my noticing.

My big reminder is the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster, which I wrote about in my second or third blog entry in the original Blogger site that has been lost in the memory hole.

I miss those early days of blogging.

Does radicalism require deliberate rejection of learning?

by Jack Grant

He’s a total radical, probably the most radical president we’ve ever had in terms of his definition of the power of the presidency. There’s nothing more dangerous than a radical who doesn’t have information, doesn’t learn from information and doesn’t learn from the past.
-Seymour Hersh, in a symposium at Tufts University

This statement brings a question to my mind: Is it possible to remain a radical if one does learn from information and does learn from the past?
