Context, how often it is ignored

by Jack Grant

For those who consider themselves devout Christians, here is a question:

What do you consider yourself first, a citizen of the United States (or your nation of residence) or a Christian?

Think carefully about your answer in the light of your true beliefs.

Then read this:

Here’s a clue, from a recent Pew poll that asked: What do you consider yourself first? A citizen of your country or a Muslim?

In the United Kingdom, 7 percent of Muslims consider themselves British first, 81 percent consider themselves Muslim first.

Did your answer to the question regarding your priorities change how you viewed the accusations flung at Muslims by those intent upon labeling Islam as evil?

Be honest with yourself…

Yeah, I’ve always chuckled at that accusation too.

Right along with “They want us all to adopt Islam” and “They think anyone who’s not Muslim is going to hell”.

Uhhhhh……..yeah………,So?

That in and of itself isn’t the problem. It’s that there a very vocal subset that seeks to speed up both processes through violence.

Uh-huh. Your bouncer kicked out my last comment. He’s on my shit list. ; )

Anyway, I was raised as Christian as they come. Mucho patriotism within the church, but we were strictly taught that if our government were ever to ask us to denounce God, we were to give our lives before doing so.

Admittedly, I don’t study the daily flux in the Islam culture, but going on headlines, I don’t think it is a “death over denounce” religion, in the traditional sense. It seems a tad more angry; homocidal death wasn’t the idea.
