Loadin’ down the old home network
by Jack GrantYes, it is the end of the first week of March, and I am just now getting my home network and backup hard drives to the point where I can ensure that all my files are properly mirrored on my backup hard disks.
Given that I have both a day-job and a personal life, along with having to wait to move into my house until the end of January, I think I’ve done a reasonably quick turnaround on this, especially given the number of computers I’m backing up.
Any doubts? Look at this image of a window showing just the computers I have online at the moment that need to be included in the backup (this does not include any of my “older” computers that I plan to use as music servers or for other applications, these are just my “main” systems):
I had two backups underway while I was reading various weblogs this evening, so I haven’t been slacking off, as evidenced by this screen capture (NOTE: my main desktop PC has dual screens, so this is a capture of both):
Despite the need to re-setup my backups after my move back to the US from France, I have indeed been thinking about many issues, and I have much that I feel needs to be written about them. Unfortunately, I have not had the energy nor the time to address them in the fashion I feel is necessary. I hope to remedy this soon, but I refuse to post on something for the sake of a post. I do have standards, and I do demand of myself that I fully consider issues before I weigh in with my opinion, despite the accusations by some of rabid partisanship on my part.
I wish I were a rabid partisan. It would make writing for my weblog so much easier.
