Another cool meme!

I like this one... Taken from Jack Grant: 1. Black and White or Color; how do you prefer your movies? I tend to agree with Jack on the quality issue, but I am a softy for classic Black and White...

I wasn't sure if you were or weren't. I was just being nosey, so thank you for clarifying that. (:
It would be nice if we could all define God on our own terms and never have to agree.

John Lennon quote:

"God is a concept,
By which we can measure,
Our pain,
I'll say it again,
God is a concept,
By which we can measure,
Our pain"

I didn't say I was an atheist, I just think God is (by definition) unknowable by us.

Hey Jack, I still think you're pretty damn hot even if you're an atheist. (; I'm a believer in a higher intelligence that's omnipresent which I call God, I feel connected to it through my gut feelings. I would much rather have a conversation about religion with an atheist than anyone who is hung up on ritualistic practice of any kind of religion. Sometimes I like to think that earth is the actual heaven or hell depending on what you did in your past life, but who the hell knows.

Dan, I know where you are coming from, but I tend to disagree.

My answer to that would have been "Any of the major crimes that have never been reported - like the smoking-cancer link or thalidomide-birth defects both now largely "re-solved" but how long did it take?

I like Jack's response on the last. The dilemma is rather like the exisatence of intelligent alien life and (was it Asimov?) the response "There is either intelligent life out there, or there is not. Either prospect is equally scary".

What I do intensely dislike is the implication that it is only god etc that keep us from committing immoral acts. If that were the case I would have been locked up many years back and the key tossed in the deepest part of the Pacific.

There is an unbelievable arrogance in people (of all religions that do it) who paint those who are non-believers in their particular mythology and comfort blanket as "immoral", as "sinners", as "heathens" or "infidels".

As for an unsolved crime, do you really believe Oswald was a lone gunman, and why? In the last century that seems to be the most interesting unsolved crime in America.
