Talking about walking
by Jack GrantAm I the only one to see irony in the US Ambassador to Iraq threatening the Iraqi government with a “loss of support” if that government does not compromise with the minority parties?
Think about how often the current administration has chosen to compromise with the minority party in this country, and how often the administration has chosen to exercise raw political power in lieu of compromise.
It would help if we walked the walk that goes with the talk we talk.

Jack,
And how often it happens?
Just as one small instance, the history - and the related chatter - of the relationship between the US and NZ since 1981 is a good case in point.
It still runs, with the comments of the retiring US Ambassador last year, the “gone by lunchtime” made to visiting US luminaries by our right wing, the “free trade” debate in Congress, the “suggestion” that NZ should have F-16s in our airforce to replace the Skyhawks, and all of the other little instances…
I heard this on the news, and the thought that went through my mind was “Typical…, Americans.”
