Soon he won’t be in Kansas any more

by Jack Grant

The author of TeaFizz, another fine blog that I have not linked to nearly as often as deserved, is soon to be deployed to Iraq. Unfortunately, it is a less than ideal situation since he is not familiar with his new unit.

Let it be noted he rejoined the military after the Iraq war started, so he knew and still knows well what he is going into. He had already “done his bit”…

Do the math.

More importantly, wish him well.

He has my best well-wishes. Persevere. And very cool of Jack to give us the head up.

As a former marine who apposed the war (i.e. from the outset) but understands the importance of defending the greatest, most free country in the recorded history of man, I must give a note of gratitude for anyone willing to serve, regardless of the circumstance. I will also concede that there are benefits (unforeseen at least by me) to having overthrown Sadam and, for that, I am greatful. Hopefully there will continue to be Americans such as this one willing to stand up for freedom, despite the cost.
